SUMMARY: ANSI/AAMI ST108 has changed the conversation around water quality in Sterile Processing—but many hospital Facilities teams are still asking the same practical question: What can we do right now with the system we already have?
This session is designed as a practical Facilities playbook for managing SPD water risk today while building toward a more proactive future. Attendees will learn how to establish a useful baseline, identify the information their existing treatment system may already provide, recognize developing trends, define meaningful action thresholds, clarify ownership between Facilities and Sterile Processing, and document response when conditions change.
The discussion will also explore how hospitals can apply the same reliability practices already used for HVAC, boilers, electrical systems, and other critical infrastructure to SPD Critical Water—moving from reactive response toward condition-based management. Finally, the session will show where Real Time Monitoring can fit into future planning by automating trend visibility, alerts, and earlier intervention.
